Frequently Asked Questions
Have questions before booking? Here are answers to the most common questions about in-home physiotherapy, insurance receipts, service areas, and what to expect.
How much does in-home physiotherapy cost?
Cost depends on the type of visit and your location. Book a free call and I can confirm whether in-home physiotherapy is appropriate and discuss fees before you book.
Do I need a doctor’s referral?
No. You can see a physiotherapist without a doctor’s referral. Some insurance plans may require a referral for reimbursement, so it is worth checking your individual plan.
Do you offer direct billing?
Direct billing is not currently available. Receipts are provided for insurance reimbursement.
Will I get receipts for insurance?
Yes. Receipts are provided after appointments. Many extended health plans include physiotherapy coverage, but coverage depends on your individual plan.
What areas do you serve?
Restore at Home provides in-home physiotherapy across Mississauga, Toronto, and the GTA, including Etobicoke, Scarborough, North York, Vaughan, Richmond Hill, Brampton, Oakville, and Milton. Availability may depend on schedule and travel distance.
What happens during the first visit?
The first visit includes a discussion of your goals, health history, current symptoms, mobility, strength, balance, and safety needs. Treatment may include education, hands-on care where appropriate, and a home exercise plan.
Do I need any equipment at home?
No special equipment is required. We can use your home environment and common household items. If exercise bands, weights, or mobility aids would help, I will explain what is useful and why.
Do you work with seniors?
Yes. In-home physiotherapy can support seniors with mobility, strength, balance, fall prevention, pain, and confidence with daily activities. Care is adapted to the person’s goals and safety needs.
Do you help after surgery or hospital discharge?
Yes, when physiotherapy is appropriate for your stage of recovery. Post-surgical rehab follows your surgeon’s or hospital’s instructions, including any restrictions or precautions.
Do you offer virtual physiotherapy?
Yes. Virtual physiotherapy may be appropriate for education, exercise progressions, follow-ups, and situations where an in-home visit is not needed or not practical.
What is your cancellation policy?
Please provide at least 24 hours’ notice when possible if you need to cancel or reschedule. Late cancellations or missed appointments may be subject to a cancellation fee.
When should I seek urgent medical care instead?
If you have chest pain, sudden weakness, trouble speaking, severe shortness of breath, new bowel or bladder changes, or a serious fall/injury, seek urgent medical care.
