Post-surgical physiotherapy at home
Home rehabilitation after orthopaedic surgery or a hospital stay follows your surgeon or hospital instructions and precautions.
Preparing for your first home visit
- Have your surgeon or hospital instructions available if applicable.
- Have mobility aids available if they are being used.
- Direct any medication or medical questions to the appropriate medical professional (physiotherapists do not manage medications).
- Caregivers are welcome to participate with your consent.
After surgery or hospital discharge
We assess mobility and discuss daily tasks after surgery or hospital discharge while following your surgeon’s or hospital’s instructions. Physiotherapy does not replace medical follow-up; seek urgent or emergency care for concerning symptoms.
Your post-surgical assessment
We review your instructions and precautions, discuss your goals and observe relevant movement. Follow-ups adjust exercise and daily-task practice to your response; caregivers can be involved with your consent.

Depending on your procedure and precautions, we can assess rehabilitation needs after:
- Joint replacements (e.g., hip or knee replacement)
- Ligament or tendon repairs
- Fracture management after surgical fixation

Timing and activity depend on your procedure and the instructions and precautions from your surgeon or hospital team.
Can a caregiver be involved?
Yes. A caregiver can participate with your consent; being present does not by itself authorize someone to consent for you.
When should I contact my surgeon or seek medical care instead?
If you experience sudden, severe, or concerning medical symptoms, you should contact your surgeon or seek urgent/emergency medical care immediately.
Fees for this service
In-home physiotherapy
Initial assessment: $200 / 60 minutes.
Follow-ups: $200 / 60 minutes · $150 / 45 minutes · $100 / 30 minutes.
30-minute home follow-ups depend on location and time availability.
All fees are in CAD. We provide receipts for you to submit to your extended health insurer. Coverage depends on your plan. No additional travel or parking fees.
