Virtual physiotherapy across Ontario
Virtual physiotherapy provides one-on-one care for Ontario residents from a suitable private space at home. A virtual visit may include discussion of symptoms and goals, observation of relevant movement, education, exercise instruction, self-management strategies, and rehabilitation progression. It does not reproduce every part of an in-person physical examination, and some needs may be better served by hands-on assessment, another care setting, or medical review. Suitability is considered case by case, with the plan adapted to what can be assessed and supported appropriately through video.
When virtual care may — and may not — be the right fit
Many movement, education, and exercise needs can be addressed effectively through virtual care.
However, some presentations may require an in-person examination, hands-on assessment, urgent medical review, or another service. Suitability for virtual care is always determined on a case-by-case basis.
What a visit can look like
A virtual visit starts with a discussion of your symptoms and functional goals, similar to an in-person assessment.
We observe your movement and analyze functional tasks through video. Initial treatment primarily consists of education and guided exercise instruction.
Follow-up sessions focus on reviewing your progress, modifying exercises, and adjusting the rehabilitation plan as needed.
Technology, privacy and setup
To get the most out of your virtual session, please ensure:
- You are in a private space where possible to support privacy and consent expectations.
- You have a stable internet connection.
- Your camera can be positioned so relevant movement can be seen clearly.
- You have enough safe space to move if exercise is planned.
- We will confirm your physical location in Ontario at the start of the session, as clinically and operationally appropriate.
